Saxoncourt Publishing is pleased to announce that a new series of English learning materials is now ready.
Excel is a four-level intermediate English course for secondary and elementary school students, and will replace the Mega series used in Taiwan. Each level consists of a Student’s Book, a Workbook, a comprehensive Teacher’s Manual, CDs, and Tests. Course Guides, Workbook Answer Keys and Flashcards can be downloaded from the Shane Courses Library on the Shane Server.
The Excel series has been written and designed to:
• broaden vocabulary, teaching not only key nouns, verbs and adjectives, but also functional words needed for natural, fluent communication.
• present new grammar patterns, covering all tenses and aspects at CEF B1 level, and review grammar taught in elementary English courses.
• develop the four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
• develop natural pronunciation.
• help young English learners move beyond the practice of set question and answer patterns and challenge them to freely use English in problem-solving, critical-thinking and communicative activities.
Here are the Excel release dates:
Excel 1: now available!
Excel 2: March 1st 2016.
Excel 3: May 1st 2016.
Excel 4: July 1st 2016.
This winter, No.4 Elementary School in Beijing, China, took part in an English-language singing show which was performed in front of 19 other training schools. All participants performed beautifully and the excellent results were a testament to the quality of teaching provided by SES Beijing over the past term.
We look forward to working with this public school on further such events.
The Christmas Charity Auction & Luncheon is a British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei annual charity fundraising event. It was attended by Saxoncourt Corporate Office and other members of the local and international business community. Attendees got the chance to meet with Father Christmas as well as bid for items in the auction.
Two thirds of net proceeds from the auction were donated to the annual charity fund, and Shane Lipscombe also donated a further NT$100,000.

This summer was a great one for many students at SEST. Some had the opportunity to attend Shane Global Language Centre’s summer program in Hastings, UK, while others attended the ‘Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability’ (LOHAS) Summer Camp in Yilan, Taiwan – north east of the country.
The 3-week summer program in the UK included excursions to many interesting places, such as Herstmonceux Gardens and Observatory, Brighton Lanes & Pier, and Bodiam Castle.
The 3-day LOHAS Summer Camp included outdoor and indoor team-building activities in English, such as “Bookmark DIY”, and “Make Your Own Story Book”.
Students made new friends, learned new skills, and developed global perspectives. It was a really unforgettable experience for all!
We look forward to summer 2016!
Shane Huadu opened its doors to students on Sunday 19th July. School owners Merry and Chris, pictured here with Franchise Manager Wendy Wang and the school’s team of enthusiastic T.A.s, have spent time studying and working in France, as well as visiting other Shane schools around China.
Students showed a keen enthusiasm to participate in the demo classes and over 30 students ranging from kindergarten to high school students have already signed up for classes. Beijing school Director of Studies, Andrew Weston, is assisting the school for its first month, as the school aims to promote English learning in northern Guangzhou.
Saxoncourt Group and Shane English Schools founder, Shane Lipscombe had the pleasure to have the Prince of Wales, HRH Prince Charles, visit the Nanteos Mansion Country House Hotel owned by the Saxoncourt Group.
A National Trust Reward Ceremony was held at the Hotel featuring Prime Cymru who organise adult training in Wales and are part of the Prince’s Trust, and the Cambrian Mountain Initiative (CMI) who promote agriculture in the area. Prince Charles is patron of the CMI and Nanteos is an ambassador for the group.
His Royal Highness met Shane Lipscombe, his wife Carol and his daughter Angelina. He was presented with Nanteos teddy bears for Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The future king was even given some of our very own honey to enjoy.
Shane enjoyed his time taking Prince Charles and guests on a professional tour around the Mansion. The Prince was pleasant and lively, and had many questions about the surroundings in the Mansion. By all accounts Shane performed his role as host admirably.

Shane English School Taiwan successfully held two ‘Open House’ events in Taipei at the TuCheng branch (30th May) and Roosevelt branch (31st May). The purpose of these events was to reach the new target audience (both parents and children) to generate interest in our courses. Those who attended experienced a 40-minute demo lesson.
Our Academic Team designed two types of demo lessons for the Open House event: a SPEC (Shane Primary English Course) demo lesson and an EFL demo lesson. The main points of the demo lessons were:
• To show the parents that Shane English School is a highly trusted brand which recruits 100% qualified English teachers with international teaching certificates.
• To allow parents to observe how teachers conduct lessons and interact with children.
• To motivate children and demonstrate that learning English is different from their previous learning experience. We showed them that learning English is really fun by using many learner-centred teaching activities and methods.
• To allow parents to enroll their children on a suitable course at Shane English School Taiwan.
About 40 children attended the demo lessons and the feedback from the parents was extremely positive. Most importantly of all, 95% of the attendees registered with the schools afterwards.
Based on this successful experience, the Open House event will be held on the 6th, 13th and 27th June at other DTE branches.
On May 2nd, Shane English School Taiwan opened a brand new branch in Lin Ya, Kaohsiung, in the southern part of the country. “KS4” is the first of eight new schools which will open in Taiwan this year.
It has been a long journey for KS4, given that the school had to open a whole year after signing their contract. This was due to a serious explosion which damaged the Kaohsiung Lin Ya area last year.
The area is now back on its feet, and with the help of our other Shane schools in Kaohsiung, and support from parents, the opening ceremony was a resounding success, and the demonstration class was full of fun and laughs.
We sincerely wish KS4 owner, David and the rest of his team the best of luck with their new venture! We are sure that, as with our other schools in Kaohsiung, they will soon develop an excellent reputation for teaching quality in the local area.
